Hellerwork was developed by Joseph Heller in the late 1970's, this is a combination of movement re-education and muscle and connective tissue therapy, stressing the mind-body connection. Used to treat chronic pain as well as to help people to live more comfortably with their bodies.
This technique uses deep-tissue massage to rout out pain and tension. This is combined with some emotional counselling plus instructions (movement education) on how to do certain exercises to ease everyday movements.
A course of Hellerwork treatment has precisely 11 sessions, each one devoting about an hour to bodywork and another half-hour to movement education.
